X-Cart feature tour: Merchandising and Inventory

1. Support for downloadable goods (e-goods)   Top
Support for downloadable goods (e-goods)
X-Cart supports Electronically distributed products such as books, films, legal documents, etc. Customers are provided individual login information to access (that expires after timeframes you set) the downloadable products.

2. Discount coupons codes   Top
You can define several kinds of discount coupons for your store. Coupons allow your customers to get a discount when their order meets certain requirements (e.g. when they order products for a sum over a certain amount, or when they order a certain product, or when they order a product that belongs to a discounted category). To get a coupon discount a customer has to know a valid coupon code which he should enter into the 'Discount coupon' form at the time of making his order.

3. Gift certificates   Top
You can sell Gift Certificates to your customers. A Gift Certificate can be used as a payment method, so if a customer purchases a GC at your store for another person, this other person will be able to pay for an order at your store using this GC. Any order containing products can be paid for by a GC (fully - if the GC amount equals or exceeds the sum of the order, or partially - if the amount of the GC is smaller than the sum of the order it is used to pay for). Orders containing just Gift Certificates (no products) cannot be paid for by a Gift Certificate.
Gift certificates can be printed for sending by regular mail. Two pre-designed sample templates have been added for printable gift certificates. The store admin can choose to enable customers to choose a design for Gift certificate cards that will be sent by postal mail.

4. Full inventory control   Top
X-Cart can track inventory by master product and by attributes like "color", "size", "kind", etc. Once an item is sold-out X-Cart can either disallow adding it to the cart and show 'Out of stock' warning on its details page or exclude out-of-stock master product from products listings in the front-end at all. Also, once products instock quantity approaches low level X-Cart can send a notification e-mail to the e-mail address set.

5. "Out of Stock" Messages   Top
The product will not be available for sale if its quantity in stock goes down to zero and inventory tacking is enabled. The product will remain on the storefront with an "Out of stock" sign unless your chooses to disable products which are out of stock.

6. Purchase discounts   Top
You can use purchase discounts for your store. Purchase discounts do not require your customers to enter any type of "code" to get the discount. They are normally used to provide automatic savings on every customer order that is over a certain amount. You can specify the absolute or percent value of discount, Order Subtotal for which you want to set a discount and select the Membership group to which the discount should be applied.

7. Retail and wholesale price   Top
You can define retail and wholesale prices for products. The wholesale prices are generally lower and depend on the quantity of the product items being ordered and/or on the membership level of the customer who orders them.

8. Limit minimal ordering quantity   Top
You can set minimal ordering quantity on a per product basis and thus prevent your customers from being able to purchase nonoptimal quantity of items.

9. Ability to disable inventory tracking   Top
If product quantity in stock goes down to zero the product will not be available for sale. If you do not want to track items in stock, you can disable inventory tracking for your store.
